Sissi
It was love at first sight between Elisabeth Wittelsbach (known to the world as “Sissi”) empress of Austria and queen of Hungary, and Madonna di Campiglio. It was the summer of 1889 when the sovereign came for the first time to the foot of the Brenta Dolomites. After the royal holiday, many years later Madonna di Campiglio, known as “The pearl of the Dolomites” is still a place fit for a king.
